SPECIAL VESAK 2103 EDITION Video: New film “Bhikkhuni” follows the lives of Korean nuns Bhikkuni — Buddhist Nuns , a documentary that follows four women training to become Buddhist nuns, opens in theaters across South Korea this week. The film was shot over 300 days at the Baekhong Temple, which is open only to women, and which opens its doors to the public only twice a year. Most of the time, the nuns are in complete isolation from the outside world. The four women at the center of the documentary all became nuns for very different reasons — one decided to become a nun after visiting a Buddhist center, a second woman located the temple on the Internet, a third woman lived in the temple after being left there as a child, and the fourth is becoming a nun out of remorse.
