From The Under 35 Project — “Pride and Precepts: Being Buddhist in New York” From The Under 35 Project — “Pride and Precepts: Being Buddhist in New York” Posted: 12 Apr 2012 11:17 PM PDT As announced here last month, we at the Shambhala Sun are partnering with friend and author Lodro Rinzler to bring you weekly selections from Shambhala Publications' Under 35 Project. The first is Stillman Brown 's "Pride and Precepts: Being Buddhist in New York," about which Lodro, who's curating the Project, tells us: What really struck me about Stillman's piece is that he is so clearly devoted to not causing harm, and in doing so, respecting the Buddhist precepts. However, the interpretation of the precepts is fresh, meant for our modern day world, meant for that push-pull dynamic of meeting people out at a bar. …The piece is also well-written, and is just a fun read.
