As reported here at the time, charges against His Holiness the 17th Karmapa were dropped by Indian authorities in late April. Now, His Holiness's Office of Administration has released what should serve as a final statement in the matter:

"The Karmapa Office of Administration is very happy to confirm that the name of His Holiness the Karmapa has now been officially dropped from the charge made against him.

"His Holiness the Karmapa's position as a exemplary spiritual leader has never been more evident than during this trying period. His tranquility and focus has been steadfast, and his total faith in the fairness of the Indian judicial system remains unshaken.

"Upon receiving the welcome news, His Holiness the Karmapa said, "I am happy that the charges has been laid to rest by the Himachal Pradesh Government and through the judicial procedure of democratic India. I am very grateful to the Government of India for giving me and hundreds of thousands of Tibetans asylum in this great country in our time of need. India has been my home for almost half of my life. Upholding the integrity of the historic relationship of our two countries is of utmost importance to me."

"The deputy General Secretary for the Karmapa Office of Administration, Karma Chungyalpa, said, "we have maintained all along that the allegations against His Holiness were baseless. His Holiness has never been involved in financial administration or monetary matters as is true for all great spiritual masters. We are very relieved today and thank the Himachal Pradesh Government and court for this very judicious decision. We also express our deep gratitude to the many well wishers who have supported His Holiness during this ordeal."

Video: Check out — and help out — “Planting Seeds,” a kids’ film about mindfulness from Plum Village

Posted: 21 May 2012 06:00 AM PDT

Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village community is crowdfunding for a documentary film for children called Planting Seeds: The Power of Mindfulness, which will combine live-action documentary footage with animation to teach children about mindfulness through songs, stories and engaging activities.

The film is based on the book Planting Seeds: Practicing Mindfulness With Children. Both the book and film offer mindfulness activities that children can do at home, at school or in their community.

"In the world we are asking, How can our children grow up to be peace-builders? How can they learn to use the conflicts of the past to provide compost for lasting harmony in our communities, our nations, and the world?

Planting seeds is a film to answer these questions," says Brother Phap Luu, one of the monks at Plum Village. Read on to learn how you can help, and to watch a video preview of the film.

Planting Seeds will be shot this July during the month-long Summer Retreat, when families from around the world gather at Plum Village, in Southern France, to learn about mindfulness. It is scheduled for release on DVD in Spring 2013, along with a comic book and interactive iBook.

Produced by Peace is The Way Films, the film will cost an estimated $ 200,000 to produce, even with the film crew working at a discounted rate. Through June 23, the filmmakers are collecting donations on their IndieGoGo page to help reach their goal. Those who donate will receive discounts on the DVD and comic books.

Now Stepping Forward, Now Stepping Back

It is your own brilliantly luminous Treasure House.
Let loose this brilliance through your eyes,
you bathe the Buddha body and Buddha Land in splendor;

Buster bathes his Buddha body on a long walk in the Lake District.

when you set this luminosity free through your ears,
you can hear the sounds and voices of the Buddhas at work;

Two young owls hang out waiting for parental rescue. Owls_x_2.jpg

When you let this radiance pass out through your hands,
you change yourself as well as others;

Herdwick sheep of The Lake District - I'm thinking knitting!Herdwick_sheep_with_Grassmere.jpg

when you let it pass out through your feet,
you put yourself into action,
now stepping forward, now stepping back.

View back from Fairfied, never has 'keep on going' meant so much! Long walk yesterday on the Fairfield Horseshoe.

Great Master Keizan

Many thanks to the monk who took the photograph of the owls and for his and others company on perhaps the longest and most arduous walk I have ever done. The Fairfield Horseshoe circular walk starting at Rydal Hall. Wonderful walk, good company, and still. No wind.
