With palms together,

Good Morning Everyone,

The morning air is cool, made cooler still by the action of our evaporative coolers and ceiling fans. I snuggled close under the blankets and wished not to emerge from my soft cocoon, but alas, the day seems to have its own mind.

Yesterday was very productive, as we like to say. We met with Claude AnShin and his jiisha, KenShin via Skype. They are both in Germany just now. We discussed more details of a planned visit to our area to offer a retreat for survivors of violence. From this discussion, we went to J. Paul Taylor Juvenile Corrections Facility to meet with the superintendent. We were warmly welcomed and we came to an agreement to offer on-going contemplative services to the youth incarcerated there, as well as Staff Development for their staff. We are very excited about this project and see it as having direct bearing on our mission as an Engaged Zen Sangha. The afternoon was spent on Skype dokusan, followed by Tai Chi Chih at the Zendo. I sat Zazen alone there after Tai Chi Chih Instructor, Rose left. Please note, Rose is now on summer vacation and therefore, we will not offer Tai Chi Chih at CMZT through the summer.

Soku Shin has been hard at work creating a new schedule for the Temple. The schedule will include morning and evening open Zazen five days a week. We will establish this schedule once we are moved into our new building in Old Mesilla. We signed the lease there and a couple signed a lease on our present apartment so we will be moving the last week of this month, first week of July. We have decided to keep the Zendo on Alameda as it is until the Fall when we have the suggestion a company, currently in the complex, will be willing to lease it away from us,

The new Mesilla Zen House has four bedrooms, a large Zendo space, a walled front courtyard, a walled rear courtyard, ample parking, a beautiful breezeway/foyer, a large kitchen, and is, essentially, very! spaciou s. We plan to divide the building into a residence for Soku Shin and I, and a fully operational Temple with the capacity for short term stays for students. The facility will be a wonderful venue for community education services and Sesshin.

Lastly, we will offer our Summer Sesshin beginning Friday the 8th and concluding Sunday the 10th. This Sesshin will be in honor of our Dharma Grandfather, Matsuoka-roshi. Sesshin is a silent meditation retreat. We ask for a small donation of between $25.00 to $50.00 to cover our expenses. This Sesshin will be a joint effort between the Order of Clear Mind Zen and the Zen Center of Las Cruces. We will host it either at the Zendo on Alameda or in the new Zendo in Mesilla, depending on how our move is going.

If anyone can assist us in this move to ensure we are moved in time, please contact Soku Shin at clearmindzen@yahoo.com

Thank you and be well.
